Trixie Films internships offer opportunities for smart, energetic people to work in our Brooklyn office on different components of our documentary film projects, including How To Lose Your Virgnity and I Was A Teenage Feminist.
The job: This is a great opportunity to work on production and post-production as well as a larger audience engagement campaign. We're looking for people interested in feminism, sexuality, activism and social media - but you do not have to be female. Aside from working directly on the films, we want someone interested in writing for the How to Lose Your Virginity blog and helping to create and maintain several interactive social media communities for our audience.
Experience: You must be proficient in a Mac computer environment, have great verbal and written communication skills and be able to navigate social networking platforms. Experience in documentary filmmaking is not essential, but if you are a film/video person, you should be able to work in Final Cut Pro.
Schedule and location: We work with interns all year and a typical internship runs for 3 months, one or two days a week, Monday thru Friday from 10 to 6. The studio is located in Downtown Brooklyn near the F, A, C and R trains. We are open to working around your work or school commitments.
Some things you might do, depending on your skill set:
research data or written materials
research, acquire and log archival photos and video
transcribe documentary interviews
contribute to our blog
maintain our social media sites and assist in sending out email blasts
assist in finding and creating partnerships with organizations serving young women
assist on shoots
log and load footage in Final Cut Pro
maintain our database.
Compensation: This is a unpaid internship position, but we cover lunch and in-town transit. We also participate in internship programs for school credit.
To apply: Please get familiar with what we do at Trixie Films, and then email us a short cover letter and resume to info*at*trixiefilms.com.
